GORAN DRAGIĆ

THE DRAGON

Goran Dragić (born May 6th, 1986) ranks among all-time greats in Slovene sports; a Ljubljana native, a father of two and an exceptional personality who tries to think positively every day. The outstanding point guard was also the first Slovenian to play in the NBA All-Star Game. He secured his eternal fame as he captained the Slovenian national team to the throne at the EuroBasket 2017 and took home the tournament MVP award.

Goran entered the NBA in 2008. He played for the Miami Heat from 2014 to 2021 and during his tenure in South Beach he led his team to the NBA finals in 2020. He is currently a member of the Brooklyn Nets team, for which he made his debut at the end of February 2022.

With his remarkable work ethics, great attitude and winners’ mentality, he has earned respect among his peers and established himself as a quintessential leader on and off the court.

The Dragon, as Goran is often called in the USA, has been running his basketball camp since 2014. In 2020 he started the Goran Dragić Foundation, a charity organization whose commendable mission is the renovation of outdoor basketball courts throughout Slovenia and care for socially underprivileged and economically disadvantaged children.

The term “legendary” is often misused in Slovenian sports. However, Gogi is a true living legend, a legend with his feet firmly on the ground and his head and heart in the right place.
