THE 10TH EDITION OF THE CAMP
WILL BE HELD AGAIN IN 2024 (7 - 13 JULY 2024)
In 2023, the Goran Dragić Foundation and Spontanzo rolled up their sleeves and successfully implemented the ninth Goran Dragić Basketball Camp. It took place between Sunday, 9 and Saturday, 15 July, hosted for the third time in a row by Laško, more specifically by the Thermana Park Laško Superior Hotel and the Tri lilije Sports Hall.
On this occasion, the Foundation continues to focus on the renovation of the new Gogi outdoor basketball court #podamdaigram. After Ljubljana (Tivoli), Maribor (Tabor), Novo mesto (Šolski centre) and Laško (Marija Gradec), we were active in Prekmurje this year – we renovated a court in Murska Sobota (OŠ I Murska Sobota).
The opening of the first Gogi playground in Prekmurje – and the fifth in total – took place on Wednesday 21 June 2023. At the opening ceremony, the Goran Dragić Foundation, in cooperation with sponsors and partners, donated and handed over to the Slovenian Association of Paraplegics three professional, specially personalised sports wheelchairs for the use of the three Slovenian national wheelchair basketball players.

Goran ranks among all-time greats in Slovene sports. He has been playing in the NBA for 14 seasons, half of which for the Miami Heat. The outstanding point guard was the first Slovenian to play in the NBA All-Star Game. The Ljubljana native also secured his eternal fame as he captained the Slovenian national team to the throne at the EuroBasket 2017. Gogi started the 2022/23 season with the Chicago Bulls team, and signed a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks in March.

“I have to thank my family and friends who have supported me throughout the years, stuck with me every step of the way through ups and downs and helped me become the person I am today. Great accomplishments do not happen by chance or overnight; they are a consequence of hard work, sacrifices, and hard trials and tribulations.
But at the end of the day, it is the built friendships and fond memories that have made everything worthwhile; especially now that I am in a position to offer guidance and provide our young hoopers with better opportunities to engage in sports.
I’ve set out on the mission to do just that with my basketball camp, the renovation of outdoor basketball courts throughout Slovenia and charity events sponsored by the Goran Dragić Foundation. All children deserve equal opportunities to make their dreams come true, regardless of their social background or any limitations or impairments. I believe that together with our partners we will be able to carry out many more charitable projects, thus contributing to a better future for our community. “

In 2021, Gogi and his team decided to organize a “real” basketball camp again after six years at Rogla and one year of the online camp during the Covid pandemic. The organizing team further improved, upgraded, and refreshed the camp.
The camp’s new location is Laško, in partnership with the Municipality of Laško, Thermana Park Laško Superior**** hotel, and the legendary Tri Lilije (Three Llilies) Hall.
This year, upwards of 130 male and female basketball players aged 9 to 15 will spend a wonderful, exciting basketball week full of serious work, fun, and surprises with Goran and a team of 17 coaches and nine educators.
The camp was held in Laško again, for the ninth time, from Sunday, July 9 to Saturday, July 15, 2023.
In addition to the basketball content, the organizers again prepared an attractive, fun, and creative accompanying program, a total of seven unforgettable days with Gogi and friends. The next year’s camp will be held from July 7 to July 13, 2024.
